Bringing realtime visuals to Coachella’s new Quasar stage

Bringing realtime graphics to the Quasar stage

Client: Vita Motus / Goldenvoice

Background: Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, commonly referred to as Coachella, is one of the largest and most famous music festivals in the United States and worldwide. Held annually at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley of the Colorado Desert. In 2024, Coachella introduced a new stage called the Quasar Stage, designed to enhance the festival experience with cutting-edge technology and immersive experiences.

Challenge:

The new Quasar Stage at Coachella 2024 featured an exciting lineup of electronic music artists with extended 3+ hour sets. Bringing the visuals to life and having enough variation posed a real challenge for the Prismax and Vita Motus (the designers of the stage).

Weekend 1:

  • Friday: Honey Dijon b2b Green Velvet
  • Saturday: Michael Bibi
  • Sunday: Jamie xx, Floating Points, and Daphni

Weekend 2:

  • Friday: RÜFÜS DU SOL (DJ Set)
  • Saturday: Eric Prydz b2b Anyma
  • Sunday: Diplo b2b Mau P

Solution: In collaboration with Vita Motus, we designed a set of bespoke realtime visuals tailored to each artist running on the latest version of xLive, our realtime VFX solution running on Unreal Engine 5. Each artist would be immersed in a realtime world completely tailored to their needs

Result: The result was a mesmerizing visual spectacle where lights and video merged seamlessly into perfect harmony. The visuals transported the crowd through various settings and worlds each day, elevating the performances to unprecedented heights.
